Benefits Tools

Most major insurers have programs to address substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD). These range from awareness and prevention programs to resources available to employees who need services. Talk to your workplace insurance representative or broker to see what resources are already available to you.

If your employer benefits include an employee assistance program (EAP), this is another resource that can help support reducing stigma. See what EAP or other services exist or can be added to support your employees with SUD. Ask your benefits administrator if they have professionals experienced in treating patients with SUD.

Annual benefits enrollment is a great time to begin reducing stigma by talking about SUD, clarifying your policies and letting employees know how to get help if they or their family members need it.
